The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has bought its building in the SouthSide Works for $25 million.
A UPMC spokeswoman said it closed on the purchase of the Quantum I @ SouthSide Works building at 2 Hot Metal St., fronting East Carson Street in Pittsburgh, for $25.06 million.
The Pittsburgh Business Times reported in its Sept. 14 edition that UPMC was likely to exercise an option to buy the Quantum I building that it had when it signed a lease 10 years ago with the Soffer Organization.
The four-floor building has 151,441 square feet and 900 UPMC employees that do billing, scheduling and other back-office functions. UPMC has been the sole tenant for the building. There are no immediate changes planned for the building.
