A scaled-down premiere of "Jack Reacher" will happen on Wednesday at SouthSide Works Cinema featuring Tom Cruise but no red carpet.
Saturday's premiere had been canceled in the wake of the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., that took the lives of 20 first-graders and six adults. In a statement from Paramount Pictures in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the studio said there would be no red carpet due to the shooting.
Major portions of "Jack Reacher" were filmed in Pittsburgh in 2011. But some of the movie is problematic given events in Newtown, including an opening scene that features a mass shooting from a sniper. TheWrap.com reported that Paramount was changing its marketing to de-emphasize the violence but the movie is not going to be changed.
