MOMENTUM is City Theatre’s annual festival of new plays at different stages, a celebration of new theatrical works featuring readings, panels, workshops, and conversation. The festival is a chance for audiences to see works in their earliest incarnations and to glimpse inside the minds of the playwrights.

A free stage reading of the new play P.Y.G. or the Mis-Edumacation of Dorian Belle is presented in the Hamburg Studio at 7 pm. Seats are very limited. Reservations are recommended.

If you prefer, the world premiere of NOMAD MOTEL is on the Main Stage at 8 pm. A limited number of tickets are available for $20 for Chamber members and guests.  Please use the promotional code:  CHAMBER

"In this whip-smart send up of reality TV, an up-and-coming black rap duo called P.Y.G. are tasked with lending some street cred to white pop idol, Dorian Bell. The rappers quickly begin to question the politics of their roles as the play delves head first into a hilarious and disturbing look at the ins and outs of cultural appropriation."

World Premiere

Main Stage

8 pm

The world premiere of "NOMAD MOTEL" by Carla Chung. The tickets are $20 each with promo code CHAMBER. Purchase is required.

"The not-so-sunny side of California is nothing new to Alix: she’s bouncing between motel rooms taking care of her brothers for her mostly MIA mother. Her classmate, Mason, is a budding songwriter trying to keep off the radar of his absent father’s Hong Kong mafia friends. Together, the savvy teens must learn to scrape by without giving up their dreams. This world premiere play by newcomer Carla Ching (Fear the Walking Dead, Amazon's I Love Dick) is a coming-of-age tale about making something out of nothing in the land of plenty."
